Born and raised in Honolulu, Vo is a graduate of McKinley High School and the University of Oregon, where he earned a journalism degree in news/editorial and magazine writing, with a minor in Japanese language. He also speaks Vietnamese. Vo is currently completing his Certified Festival and Event Executive (CFEE) program, sponsored by the International Festivals & Events Association (IFEA) and HTA.
The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Hawaii Chapter named Vo the Hokupaa Young Public Relations Professional of the Year in 2011.
