The Gas Company Promotes Jill Tokunaga to Vice President of Sales and Marketing

HONOLULU – The Gas Company, LLC (TGC), Hawaii’s clean gas energy provider, today announced the promotion of Jill Tokunaga to vice president of sales and marketing. She joined TGC in the fall of 2008 as vice president of sales to strengthen customer service and demonstrate the value of gas as a clean, low-cost energy alternative to our community.

Jill’s role is now expanded to include overall responsibility for TGC’s marketing initiatives. They include integrating gas with other renewable or low-carbon sources of energy to continue to reduce Hawaii’s dependence on imported petroleum while maintaining a high quality of life for residents and the vital infrastructure supporting tourism, defense and Hawaii’s other industries.

“As we continue to bring sustainable and renewable gas products to the market for Hawaii, Jill’s leadership and experience in the energy sector will play a key role in helping our state transition to cleaner and more efficient energy sources,” said Jeffrey M. Kissel, TGC president and CEO.

Before joining TGC, Jill was a sales executive for global telecom giant Sprint Nextel. During her tenure there, she was recognized for her ability to grow the company’s general, corporate, and government wireless and wireline businesses. She was the recipient of the Sprint Nextel President’s Club sales award for eight years. Jill is a graduate of the University of Hawaii with a bachelor’s degree in communications. She is also an active member of the Neurofibromatosis Hawaii Chapter.

ABOUT THE GAS COMPANY

Overview

The Gas Company, LLC, (TGC) provides clean, reliable and efficient gas energy to residential, business and government customers in every community across Hawaii’s six major islands — Oahu, Maui, Hawaii, Kauai, Molokai and Lanai. Next to the sun itself, gas is the most efficient way to heat water, cook food and dry clothes.

TGC makes synthetic natural gas (SNG) at the only facility of its kind in the United States and supplies it through a 1,100-mile pipeline network to nearly 30,000 commercial and residential utility customers on Oahu. TGC also supplies tank and bottled propane gas to more than 40,000 customers statewide.

Clean Energy

To help Hawaii’s state government meet its goal of 70 percent clean energy by 2030, TGC is producing renewable natural gas (RNG) from sustainable non-food-grade oils and fats at its RNG production plant on Oahu. TGC is working to produce at least half of its gas from renewable and sustainable sources.
