Starwood Hawaii Names Gregg Lundberg General Manager of The Westin Maui Resort & Spa, Ka‘anapali

HONOLULU – Starwood Hotels & Resorts Hawaii today named Gregg Lundberg general manager of The Westin Maui Resort & Spa, Ka‘anapali.

“Gregg’s extensive background in hospitality and familiarity with our Maui properties is a huge asset to the Starwood Hawaii family,” said Keith Vieira, senior vice president and director of operations for Starwood in Hawaii and French Polynesia. “We’re delighted that he will be bringing his innovative spirit and expertise to The Westin Maui Resort & Spa.”

Lundberg has served in the hospitality industry for the past 24 years, including as general manager of The Westin Ka‘anapali Ocean Resort Villas since 2003, where under his leadership the property received the ACE Project of Excellence, the highest accolade of the vacation ownership resort industry from the American Resort Development Association. His proactive leadership and guidance in the sustainability and eco-friendly initiatives of The Westin Ka‘anapali Ocean Resort Villas included the setting up of a sustainability council and other efforts that led to the resort’s inclusion as a finalist for the 2010 Hawaii Pacific Business News “Innovative Company of the Year Award.” He also served as general manager of The Westin St. John Resort & Villas, U.S. Virgin Islands, from 1998 to 2002.

Before joining Starwood, Lundberg served on the opening teams for the Hyatt Regency Waikoloa, the Hyatt Regency Kauai, and the Grant Hyatt Wailea (now known as the Grand Wailea Resort). He also broadened his experience abroad at the Signature Hotel Group and the Palace of the Golden Horses in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Lundberg plays an active role in the community, serving on the boards of the Ka‘anapali North Beach Masters Association; the Maui Police Commission; the American Resort Developers Association; the Maui Hotel and Lodging Association; the Maui Visitors Convention Bureau; and the Ka‘anapali Beach Resort Association.

Lundberg holds a bachelor of science degree in hospitality management and an associate degree in culinary arts from Johnson & Wales University (Providence, R.I.). He also holds a master’s certificate in applied project management from the University of Villanova.
