Starwood Hawaii Names Craig Anderson General Manager for the Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa

HONOLULU – Starwood Hotels & Resorts Hawaii has named Craig Anderson general manager for the Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa.

“Craig has been a valuable part of our Starwood family, an outstanding leader in Hawaii’s visitor industry and a respected member of the community,” said Keith Vieira, senior vice president and director of operations for Starwood in Hawaii and French Polynesia. “He continues to implement innovative solutions to improve hotel operations, enhance the experience of our guests and strengthen tourism in Hawaii.”

Anderson has served in the hospitality industry for the past 26 years, including as general manager of The Westin Maui Resort & Spa since 2002, and general manager of the Princeville Hotel on Kauai from 1999 to 2002. Before moving to Hawaii, Anderson was director of operations for The Westin La Paloma Resort in Tucson, Arizona, from 1997 to 1999. As part of the Starwood Hotels & Resort team for the past 14 years, Anderson has made invaluable contributions as a member of the Westin Brand Committee.

Before joining Starwood, Anderson served as director of operations and food & beverage with Interstate Hotels, The Zimmer Group and Four Seasons Hotels.

Anderson is actively involved in Hawaii’s visitor industry and business community. In 2010 he was appointed chair of the Maui Visitors Bureau, and he has served on executive boards of the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau, the Maui Hotel and Lodging Association, Kaanapali Beach Resort Association and Japan-Hawaii Tourism Council.

Anderson served in the U.S. Navy for four years, including two years stationed in Italy. He is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America.

Anderson’s transition to the Moana Surfrider will take effect on July 18.
