First Insurance Company of Hawaii’s “First Bowl” Raises $11,000 For Big Brothers Big Sisters of Honolulu

HONOLULU – First Insurance Company of Hawaii, Ltd. (FICOH) employees, agency partners and friends and family raised a total of $11,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Honolulu (BBBSH) as part of “First Bowl for Kids’ Sake” at Aiea Bowl on June 18. Culminating several weeks of fundraising by 24 volunteer teams, the private event was hosted by FICOH in advance of BBBSH’s annual bowling fundraiser in August in order to open up participation to more FICOH employees and agency partners.

The fundraiser and friendly bowling tournament brought FICOH employees one step closer to their goal of giving back to Hawaii’s people, charities and nonprofit organizations in 100 ways during 2011. Employees have embarked on this campaign in honor of FICOH’s 100th anniversary and to thank the community for its support over the years.

“It was a true pleasure for First Insurance to host this event in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Honolulu,” said Allen Uyeda, First Insurance president and CEO. “Our employees are committed to giving back to the community. Hosting our very own ‘First Bowl for Kids’ Sake’ was a great opportunity for us to support an organization that has such a clear and beneficial impact on the lives of Hawaii’s youth.”

BBBSH’s mission is to help children reach their potential through one-to-one relationships with mentors. Since 1963, thousands of BBBSH volunteers have worked with Hawaii’s youth, providing them with support and encouragement.
